Once upon a time Snohomish County probation was easy going and relatively cheap. No more. If convicted of DUI your probation fees will be $3,000. We all hate the ignition interlock device. Why? Because it is expensive, troublesome and wrought with danger. Violations will cause another six months with the device or even become a new criminal charge or mandatory 30 days of jail. Most of the defendants arrested for DUI in Snohomish County do not end up in jail. However, there is an interesting practice employed by the Snohomish County prosecuting attorneys and that is to ask for bail at arraignment (first court appearance).
