AFTER YOUR LYNNWOOD DUI ARREST
Lynnwood Municipal Court is a tough court with a tough Judge. Be aware of that very fact from the beginning. If you think appearing in this court without legal representation is a good idea, it is not. To make things more difficult, DUI cases are typically filed immediately in Lynnwood Municipal Court so you must be prepared. Be sure to check your paperwork after your arrest and release.
Your driver's license is immediately at risk for suspension following an arrest for DUI in the City of Lynnwood. Additionally, you only have 7 days to respond to the Department of Licensing following the incident. It is imperative that you review your paperwork as the Officer should provide you with the DOL hearing request form which provides you with the necessary information to protect your license.
Penalties for driving under the influence in Lynnwood are severe. Such penalties may include mandatory jail and/or electronic home monitoring, large fines, the installation of an ignition intelock device, SR 22 insurance, a license suspension and expensive and lengthy probation. The ignition interlock device is mandatory if you have been convicted of DUI or Physical Control, proceed with the Deferred Prosecution program, have a prior DUI arrest (where the device will be mandatory at your first court appearance) or even if your DUI is amended to Reckless Driving or Negligent Driving First Degree.
If you have been placed in custody (jail) following an arrest, Bail will be set administratively or at a bail hearing by the Judge. If Bail is set and you want to be released (of course you do) you must "post" bail in order to gail that release from custody. You can either post bail in its entirety (and later have all the money returned, if you do not violate the conditions of release) or go through a bail bondsman (you post 10% non-refundable fee).
